Originally a tenanted 42 acre farm on the Pwllcrochan Estate, Penybryn Isaf is the only surviving original farmhouse in the Colwyn Bay area. The house probably dates from the late 1600s. Partly rebuilt during World War II the original farm buildings which were attached to the house, were converted into living accommodation. The bottom part of the house had been separated off in the past: its own front door, shower room, large bedroom, lounge etc. It now has a separate heating system too. At one time the small bedroom next to the shower room was a kitchen; it could easily be so again because water etc can be piped through from the shower room and its not a stone wall between them.
